Matthias Brandl is a German entrepreneur who has called the Philippines home for over 20 years. At 43 years old, he enjoys a fulfilling life with his Filipina wife and their 14-year-old daughter. Together, they are the proud owners of Annabel’s Resort, idyllically located in Brgy. Agnoc-noc, 5506 Ferrol, Romblon, on the stunning island of Tablas. A New Beginning in the Philippines
At the age of 23, Matthias moved to the Philippines and took a position at a renowned hotel on Boracay Island, one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations. There, he met Maribel, the hotel’s corporate secretary, and the two fell in love.
During his four-year tenure as a hotel manager, Matthias deeply immersed himself in Philippine culture and gained valuable international experience. His ambitious and friendly nature quickly earned him recognition as a charismatic and competent leader—both among employees and guests.
His language proficiency and open-mindedness did not go unnoticed. Soon, he was recruited by prominent investors for a key position in a prestigious hotel construction project. As General Manager, he took charge of the planning and development of an exclusive hotel and apartment complex. Working closely with German and Filipino architects, he played a crucial role in successfully bringing the project to life on Boracay.
A Fresh Start on Tablas – From Hotelier to Real Estate Developer
After years in the hospitality industry, Matthias and Maribel decided to start a new chapter—this time on Tablas Island, Maribel’s home island. The untouched nature, endless sandy beaches, and warm hospitality of the locals made it easy for Matthias to find his second home there.
With his extensive experience in construction and hospitality, he built strong connections with investors such as Michael Becker and Oliver Janich. Together, they launched Tablas Seaview Resort—a retreat for Europeans looking to escape the fast-paced Western lifestyle.
Although he played a key role in the project’s early phase, Matthias decided in 2016 to return to Germany for a few years to provide his daughter with a solid German education.
Return to the Philippines & New Projects
In 2018, Matthias returned to the Philippines with his family, driven by his passion for the hospitality industry and his expertise in Philippine construction. Through numerous conversations with hotel guests, he noticed how many visitors fell in love with the Philippines—enchanted by the hospitality, nature, and quality of life.
However, behind the idyllic scenery, many expatriates quickly realized the challenges of relocating permanently. Especially for Germans, Austrians, and Swiss nationals, questions about property ownership, visas, residence permits, and legal regulations often became obstacles.
Matthias decided to use his knowledge and experience to offer a comprehensive solution. His concept includes legal consultation, real estate acquisition, construction planning, and visa assistance—all from a single source. His goal: to eliminate uncertainty and help people make their dream of living in the Philippines a reality with confidence.
From Visionary to Successful Real Estate Developer
Matthias played a key role in turning the visions and dreams of his investors into reality. While design and planning were in the hands of the investors, it was Matthias' expertise that transformed these ideas into concrete construction plans and functional structures.
By 2020, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, he had successfully completed several high-end real estate projects. During the pandemic, he and his family lived in Germany, but in 2023, they returned permanently to the Philippines to embark on their next major project:
